HOLY SHIT I THINK I DEVOURED OVER 10,000 Pokey Stix during my years at Penn State as a college student!!! These deliciously cheesy stix smothered with melted cheese were pure foodgasm in my mouth. I always dipped them in Sriracha (or Cock Sauce) and I think that was the most memorable and intense foodgasm I've ever had in my life!!! I ordered Pokey Stix when: -I was stressed out with exams/essays/papers -I couldn't decide what to eat -I threw a party at my apartment -I couldn't sleep -I was drunk -I was bored -I was hungry GOD I miss State A LOT today!! :( Haven't returned to Happy Valley for a good 6 years now ever since moving from DC to NYC.

Pokey sticks are pretty damn awesome. Cheese, Bread, Garlic, and Butter. What more would you want? Only order Pokey Sticks. Hole in the wall, disregard the mess of a kitchen. Oh and finish you Pokey sticks in one sitting. Reheating them changes the taste to something quite funky. GREAT SPECIALS!

Pokey Stix are the ultimate late-night food! The heavenly mix of cheese, garlic, doughy crust will send you to bed happy. A cautionary tale, these should only be consumed after a minimum of 5 adult beverages. I ate them sober once and it just wasn't the same. The smell the next morning of leftovers or even the empty box is enough to send you running back to the bathroom, but they are one of my favorite treats when visiting PSU.

Do you like cardboard covered in mystery garlic sauce and imitation cheese. Then look no further Gumby's is your place. Do you like not waking up with heart burn, actual customer service and being able to eat in under 2 hours then you might want to go somewhere else. My years in state college I attempted to eat here, there was always a line, the staff was always rude and I even heard them refuse to deliver to a place because they could just walk over and pick it up. If you are going to charge for delivery then actually deliver it.

My sister came to visit me so we had to try all the Penn State favorites (or non-favorites) and tried the things that people talked about. The sister and boyfriend LOVED the Pokey Stix. It's been a couple of years and the boyfriend still reminisces about the garlicky, buttery goodness. I thought they were pretty good but not super fantastic only because I don't like bread. I will take their opinions into consideration and give it 4 stars. It's true that nothing could be better than cheese, garlic, and butter.

Ordered $33 worth of pizza and they didn't even call me to tell me they cancelled my order. I was charged and still don't see the money back in my account. I called for over an hour trying to get an answer and they finally picked up and told me he didnt know and he couldn't check to see if I was reimbursed. I love their food but they lost a few more customers because of one asshole.

Probably the worst experience in all of state college. Love pokey sticks. Came back as an alumni and tried to order. Waited forty minutes and needed to ask for a refund to leave without my pokey sticks. So bad...

I really like State College pizza. Regardless of the the occasional snobbery from so called pizza experts and connoisseurs, the area has a decent variety of styles and tastes to choose from. If you can't find a decent pizza in State College, you are going to the wrong pizza joints. There certainly are bad ones. Gumby's isn't one of the bad ones. Yes, it is a hole in the wall joint. Yes, it may be tough to find parking. Yes it isn't directly on College or in the Canyon. But it isn't far from either. The prices are absolutely right for this type of pizza. It is a take on New York style. The pizza, itself, is pretty standard stuff. It reminds me of Papa John's in taste, to a degree. The Pokey sticks are really good and perfectly garlicky. The sauce is perfect. In fact, I would say the Pokey sticks make this a worthwhile stop. In a perfect world, I would go have a few beers, walk to Gumby's for some sticks, then walk to Canyon for their pizza. Maybe get a tattoo at Tattoo Mark's in between. Yeah, that would be a perfect night. So, Gumby's is a solid college town pizza joint. Priced for that crowd. A good option for the sticks alone.

On another long study night, we decided to order some Gumby's. In the maze of all the pizza spots in State College, Gumby's cheese pizza pies aren't half bad. Also, it doesn't hurt that they are open in the wee hours of the night. Delivery time is kind of hit or miss, as it all depends on how many drunken students there are lining up to get their midnight munchies. Weirdly, Gumby's has this buy one get one free pizza deal. Not sure how that works, but hey, its a free pizza. Not the best, but also not the worst. Juuuuust right, especially when you're drunk.

Holy shit. I used to have a long standing love of Pokey Stix, but a hatred of their pizza. It would constantly sit half eaten in the fridge, taunting me with how subpar it is. Imagine how much my impression changes when I ordered it with a thin crust on a whim. It's a world of difference. My once inedible pizza now disappears in comparison to the Stix now. Honestly, if you hate the normal pizza, order it thin. It's a world of difference.

Gumby's Pizza is not something you crave. It's a good pizza, nothing more nothing less. At least it's not super oily like some of the terrible pizzas you can find elsewhere downtown. But when you live next door (like I do), you appreciate them for their takeout specials. $8 (used to be $6) with taxes gets you a large 1 topping pizza, and they aren't cheap on the toppings. Perfect for a starved college student (my favorite is the sausage pizza).

..Ugh! Never ever order from Gumby's Pizza of Penn State! The thin crust pizza is gross and they forgot the pizza sauce (that I paid extra for) and when I called to complain, he said "Well, what do you want me to do about it? Next time don't order the thin crust if you don't like it." Well, yeah I won't order it because it's disgusting, but what about the pizza sauce? He didn't care about that either. I wasn't asking for him to send his driver back out just to deliver a pizza sauce, but a coupon or something would have been nice. The pokeystix were ok, maybe the saving grace of the entire order, as were the pepperoni rolls, but whatever you do, stay away from the pizza!

I'll give this a 3.5 The main reason I went to Gumby's is that it was cheap, easy, and right across the street from my apartment. Honestly though, you can get a slice of pizza the size of your face for only $1.50, and it tastes way better than Canyon or College. Still, unless you're feeling really lazy, or it's too late at night, definitely go to Margarita's instead. They have the absolute best pizza in State College hands down.

Pokey Stix remind me of everything that was great about college. Lots of fun nights spent eating Pokeys with ranch. Don't expect quick delivery, though. You're better off ordering and then going down to Allen Street to pick it up yourself. But, beware when ordering online. After ordering a large Pokey Stix online, I showed up to pick it up, only to receive a small. I explained that I had ordered a large, and they gave me some weird explanation that their online system doesn't tell them what size Pokeys were ordered. Not sure I believe that. So, the Pokey Stix are great, but the service is pretty horrible.

The buy one small get one small pokey stix deal is truly amazing. A great way for two people to end a night out at Penn State. I always get marinara and ranch to dip. They always hit the spot Oh and I actually tried their wings and they were really good

One of he best pizza joints around. Great pizza and even better pokey sticks and pepperoni rolls. My late night fix.

  • Ian L.

I really enjoy getting the 7-7-7 Deal, which you can pick 3 large pizzas (or large pokie sticks). The other thing thats sweet about this deal is that you can get any of the specialty pizzas for that price so feel try to try a few different ones. nom nom nom.

After being in State College for a few years now, I finally stumbled upon Gumby's Pizza for the first time last semester. This pizza is amazing, nothing like the pizza reserved for drunk students on Beaver Ave (you know who you are). Gumby's is always fresh and has amazing dough, the best part of their pizza. Their pokey sticks are legendary around the Penn State campus, so try them ASAP. If you are looking for delicious pizza and cheese sticks (Pokey Sticks), then skip the chains and dollar slices and get some Gumbys. Simply put, great pizza!

Alone. Pokey Stix... You were at home in my mouth. Curtains of warm cheese.

Gumby's pizza has never been much to write home about, however their Pokey Sticks ... now THOSE are AWESOME. Pricing compared to other offerings in the Downtown area are not has conpetitive, however their stuff does match up or beat in quality. I've just never been a fan of their style of pizza crust.

I miss my State College days. Especially Pokey Stix (that's how they spell them).

Pizza is so-so, but what gives this place 4 stars are the POKEY STIX. They are friggin DELICIOUS. A must try.

two words: POKEY STIX. Best thing to get through hard night of studying when you're burnt out late at night. I have no idea how their pizza tasted though sadly. Oh well.

Can't help but love them. Gumby Sticks (cheesey garlic bread) is pretty dang good. One of the better pizza joints in town.

Just another cheap place to get pizza in the State College area. One of their big selling points are the Pokey Sticks. They always seem to be a great way to end a long night.

When I went to PSU I lived right around the corner from this place, and would frequently have my food delievered (what...you want me to put on pants and go get it myself?). Hey, I would still tip the guy, and I'm sure he appreciated the 20 feet he had to walk instead of driving all over town. I honestly do not remember anything about how the pizza tasted, but that isn't the point. The point is I would want pizza, and pizza would magically appear at my door, and then said pizza would be in my tummy within a good 10 minutes or so. Oh yea...Pokey Sticks! I don't remember much about them either but I seemed to really like them. Go get 'em!

  • Lorianne H.

The pizza was okay. Delivery took way too long. Pizza was burnt. Pokey sticks are a great idea but ours were also burnt. I'm willing to give them a second try tho for the pokey sticks!

Pretty bland, standard pizza. One of those places everybody goes to when drunk, but I can't imagine going there any other time.

  • Jessica R.

I think I had the pizza here once, but what you really want to get here is Pokey Stix. Absurdly unhealthy (breadsticks with parmesan cheese and seasoning), so of course delicious. I forget all the dipping sauces that you can get, we always got marinara and Ranch dressing (little indiviudual cups of Ken's salad dressing). My friend and I couldn't even split a 10", so the already cheap prices are dirt cheap when you split the bill. We saved almost $4 by ordering there and picking it up, apparently they have some pick-up specials since most of their business is delivery. If you like breadsticks, you have to try these at least once!

pizza is terrible relative to cost (witch is low, so imagine) and they have bread sticks, big deal they taste sub-par as well. the only time you should ever order from this place is about 2:05 AM, you cant walk, and you clearly arnt thinking straight either

Pokey Sticks. Do not pass GO.. do not collect $200. Go straight to Gumby's and order a large pie and large pokey sticks.. stuff your face till you throw up. You'll thank me later. After being in new york I crave these any time I go home. Nothing comes close. Sad things is most people in NYC don't even know what these are.. lamo ivy league losers..

Gumby's will always remind me of my college days at Michigan State. So when I made a visit to Penn State I had to make a visit here. You don't eat at Gumby's for the pizza, it is horrible! You eat here for the Pokey Sticks, which are the best bread sticks ever. My only complain with the Pokey sticks is that they charge you if you want sauce, which is definitely a rip off. I will always have fine memories of Gumby's.

Pizza's okay. It could be better. The Pokey Sticks are pretty good though. You can never go wrong with Pokey Sticks.

  • Kerensa B.

Gumby's is one of those great pizza places where you don't really remember exactly what the pizza was like, but it is always good. Decent really, not so heavy as papa john's and a bit cheaper. The poky sticks are basically pizza dough covered with lots of cheese, with dipping sauces on the side. So basically like pizza but somehow better and more buttery almost. Excellent.

Pokey stix, pokey stix... Cheesy yummy goodness! Better when you're drunk! When you wake up in the morning and see what you ate you will be disappointed, but when you're caught up in the moment there's nothing you would rather have on the planet. Kinda of like a girl I once knew...
